The Scientific Center hosted the training competitions for teams participating in the Kuwait National Robotics Championship on Saturday, 10 January 2026, in joint cooperation with Kuwait University and the Public Authority for Youth, as part of its role in supporting applied education and enhancing students’ skills in science, technology, and innovation.
The competitions witnessed the participation of more than 70 teams from various age groups. These training rounds aimed to prepare participating teams and give them the opportunity to test their technical skills and hands-on experience ahead of the official championship, within an interactive learning environment that simulates real competition conditions.
The competitions included the VEX Robotics Competition in addition to Aerial Drones challenges, allowing participants to further develop their skills in programming, engineering design, teamwork, and problem-solving, while enhancing their readiness for the upcoming national competitions.
In this context, Mohammed Al-Sanousi, Deputy Director General for Visitor Experience at The Scientific Center, stated that hosting these competitions falls within the Center’s role in supporting interactive and applied education and strengthening students’ and youth’s skills in science, technology, and innovation. He noted that such events provide an important platform for nurturing technical talents and preparing a generation capable of keeping pace with future requirements.
Al-Sanousi added that The Scientific Center will continue to support initiatives that promote scientific and technological culture and empower students of all age groups, in line with national development directions and the building of a knowledge- and innovation-based economy.
He further explained that organizing these training competitions comes as part of the agreements and memoranda of understanding signed between The Scientific Center, Kuwait University, and the Public Authority for Youth, which aim to unify efforts to support students and youth by providing applied educational platforms that contribute to developing their scientific and technical skills and strengthening institutional partnerships in achieving national development goals and building an innovative future-ready generation.
On his part, Professor Dr. Haider Sayed Jawad Behbehani, Acting Dean of the College of Science at Kuwait University, stated that the qualifying rounds of the Kuwait National Championship for the VEX Robotics Competition and the Aerial Drones Competition highlighted outstanding student talents in robotics, engineering, and programming, and reflected a high level of scientific and technical readiness among participants.
Dr. Behbehani explained that these rounds qualify student teams for the final stage of the championship, scheduled to take place in February, noting that the competitions demonstrated a high level of innovation, teamwork, and systematic thinking.
He added that hosting these final trial and qualifying competitions ahead of the official championship was carried out in cooperation with The Scientific Center and the Public Authority for Youth, with support from the private sector as strategic partners, including Zain Kuwait and Al-Sayer Group, and under the sponsorship of Warba Bank, in addition to the educational partners Kuwait Technical College and the College of Technological Studies, as part of a joint national effort to support students and encourage excellence in science, technology, and innovation.
He pointed out that the Kuwait National Robotics Championship is one of the leading educational initiatives that contributes to preparing a generation capable of keeping pace with global technological developments and enhancing students’ skills in problem-solving and critical thinking, in line with the country’s direction toward investing in human capital.
In conclusion, Dr. Behbehani affirmed Kuwait University’s commitment to supporting such high-quality scientific events and strengthening institutional partnerships that contribute to the development of the educational process and the preparation of nationally qualified cadres capable of competing locally and internationally.
Meanwhile, Ghazi Al-Jalawi, Assistant Undersecretary for Youth Activities at the Public Authority for Youth, affirmed that supporting scientific and technological initiatives targeting youth is a core priority for the Authority, based on its belief in the importance of empowering young national talents and building a generation capable of creativity and competition in modern science and technology fields.
Al-Jalawi noted that the Authority’s participation in the Scientific Center Robotics Challenge reflects its commitment to supporting high-quality events organized in partnership with The Scientific Center and Kuwait University, within cooperation among national academic and scientific institutions, describing this collaboration as a successful model of integration between educational and youth entities in serving shared national objectives.
He added that the Public Authority for Youth continuously works to provide stimulating platforms that allow young people to engage in scientific and applied experiences that help refine their skills and enhance their teamwork and innovative thinking, enabling them to prepare for more advanced stages in their academic and competitive journeys.
Al-Jalawi concluded by reaffirming the Authority’s commitment to continuing its support for such events in partnership with various national entities, contributing to the promotion of a culture of innovation and modern sciences among young generations and supporting Kuwait’s comprehensive development path.
