The Scientific Center Hosts Training Competitions for the Kuwait National Robotics Championship Teams
The Scientific Center hosted the training competitions for teams participating in the Kuwait National Robotics Championship on Saturday, 10 January 2026, in joint cooperation with Kuwait University and the Public Authority for Youth, as part of its role in supporting applied education and enhancing students’ skills in science, technology, and innovation.
The competitions witnessed the participation of more than 70 teams from various age groups. These training rounds aimed to prepare participating teams and give them the opportunity to test their technical skills and hands-on experience ahead of the official championship, within an interactive learning environment that simulates real competition conditions.
The competitions included the VEX Robotics Competition in addition to Aerial Drones challenges, allowing participants to further develop their skills in programming, engineering design, teamwork, and problem-solving, while enhancing their readiness for the upcoming national competitions.
In this context, Mohammed Al-Sanousi, Deputy Director General for Visitor Experience at The Scientific Center, stated that hosting these competitions falls within the Center’s role in supporting interactive and applied education and strengthening students’ and youth’s skills in science, technology, and innovation. He noted that such events provide an important platform for nurturing technical talents and preparing a generation capable of keeping pace with future requirements.
Al-Sanousi added that The Scientific Center will continue to support initiatives that promote scientific and technological culture and empower students of all age groups, in line with national development directions and the building of a knowledge- and innovation-based economy.
He further explained that organizing these training competitions comes as part of the agreements and memoranda of understanding signed between The Scientific Center, Kuwait University, and the Public Authority for Youth, which aim to unify efforts to support students and youth by providing applied educational platforms that contribute to developing their scientific and technical skills and strengthening institutional partnerships in achieving national development goals and building an innovative future-ready generation.
On his part, Professor Dr. Haider Sayed Jawad Behbehani, Acting Dean of the College of Science at Kuwait University, stated that the qualifying rounds of the Kuwait National Championship for the VEX Robotics Competition and the Aerial Drones Competition highlighted outstanding student talents in robotics, engineering, and programming, and reflected a high level of scientific and technical readiness among participants.
Dr. Behbehani explained that these rounds qualify student teams for the final stage of the championship, scheduled to take place in February, noting that the competitions demonstrated a high level of innovation, teamwork, and systematic thinking.
He added that hosting these final trial and qualifying competitions ahead of the official championship was carried out in cooperation with The Scientific Center and the Public Authority for Youth, with support from the private sector as strategic partners, including Zain Kuwait and Al-Sayer Group, and under the sponsorship of Warba Bank, in addition to the educational partners Kuwait Technical College and the College of Technological Studies, as part of a joint national effort to support students and encourage excellence in science, technology, and innovation.
He pointed out that the Kuwait National Robotics Championship is one of the leading educational initiatives that contributes to preparing a generation capable of keeping pace with global technological developments and enhancing students’ skills in problem-solving and critical thinking, in line with the country’s direction toward investing in human capital.
In conclusion, Dr. Behbehani affirmed Kuwait University’s commitment to supporting such high-quality scientific events and strengthening institutional partnerships that contribute to the development of the educational process and the preparation of nationally qualified cadres capable of competing locally and internationally.
Meanwhile, Ghazi Al-Jalawi, Assistant Undersecretary for Youth Activities at the Public Authority for Youth, affirmed that supporting scientific and technological initiatives targeting youth is a core priority for the Authority, based on its belief in the importance of empowering young national talents and building a generation capable of creativity and competition in modern science and technology fields.
Al-Jalawi noted that the Authority’s participation in the Scientific Center Robotics Challenge reflects its commitment to supporting high-quality events organized in partnership with The Scientific Center and Kuwait University, within cooperation among national academic and scientific institutions, describing this collaboration as a successful model of integration between educational and youth entities in serving shared national objectives.
He added that the Public Authority for Youth continuously works to provide stimulating platforms that allow young people to engage in scientific and applied experiences that help refine their skills and enhance their teamwork and innovative thinking, enabling them to prepare for more advanced stages in their academic and competitive journeys.
Al-Jalawi concluded by reaffirming the Authority’s commitment to continuing its support for such events in partnership with various national entities, contributing to the promotion of a culture of innovation and modern sciences among young generations and supporting Kuwait’s comprehensive development path.
The Scientific Center Announces the Launch of the Winter Camp for Children
The Scientific Center – one of the centers of the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences (KFAS) – announced on Sunday the launch of its Winter Camp for Children, offering a comprehensive interactive educational experience that combines learning and fun in a safe and stimulating environment. The camp is part of the Center’s ongoing programs aimed at promoting scientific culture and developing the skills of future generations.
The Winter Camp targets children aged 6 to 12 and is a multidisciplinary educational program running for five weeks. Each week is dedicated to a different scientific theme, carefully designed to take participants on an engaging journey through a variety of scientific topics. The program includes science lessons aligned with each weekly theme, supported by hands-on interactive activities that enhance practical understanding and foster children’s curiosity and love for exploration.
The Scientific Center also emphasized that the Winter Camp programs are accredited by STEM.org, reflecting the Center’s commitment to delivering high-quality educational content in accordance with international standards in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM), ensuring a reliable and enriching learning experience for participants.

Science Center Launches the Premiere of “T-REX”
The Scientific Center – one of the centers of the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences (KFAS) – has announced the official launch of the award-winning film “T-REX” on Wednesday, 14 October 2025, in the presence of a group of students interested in paleontology, along with Scientific Center staff and annual membership holders.
The film is presented on the Scientific Center’s giant IMAX screen, taking viewers on an exciting journey through time to discover one of the most iconic and powerful predators in Earth’s history — the Tyrannosaurus Rex.
Produced and distributed by Giant Screen Films, this compelling documentary combines the latest scientific research with captivating storytelling and stunning visual effects, offering audiences the most accurate and realistic portrayal of the legendary “Tyrant Lizard King.”
The film is narrated in English by world-renowned actor Sam Neill, star of the Jurassic Park series, while the Arabic version is delivered by Dr. Bassam Al-Jazzaf, whose warm and engaging narration adds a unique local touch that enhances the experience for both Kuwaiti and Arab audiences.
“T-REX” highlights the incredible true story of three teenagers who discovered a rare Tyrannosaurus fossil, a finding that significantly expanded scientific understanding of dinosaur growth and behavior.

The Scientific Center of Kuwait and the Kuwait Public Relations Association Sign an MoU to Enhance Media and Training Collaboration
As part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen community partnerships and exchange expertise in the field of communication and public relations, The Scientific Center – one of the centers of the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences – signed a cooperation agreement with the Kuwait Public Relations Association at The Scientific Center headquarters in Salmiya.
The agreement aims to enhance collaboration in areas of training, media development, and organizing joint events, in addition to supporting community responsibility initiatives and public awareness efforts that contribute to promoting a culture of effective communication and developing the skills of professionals in the public relations sector.
The agreement was signed by Mr. Musaed Al-Yaseen, Director General of The Scientific Center, and Mr. Jassem Jamal Al-Nasrallah, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Kuwait Public Relations Association, in the presence of several officials from both sides.
During the signing ceremony, both parties emphasized the importance of this partnership in unifying efforts between educational and professional institutions to develop communication performance in the State of Kuwait and to support national talents in the field of public relations and institutional media.
In his remarks on this occasion, Mr. Musaed Al-Yaseen, Director General of The Scientific Center, said:

Al-Nasrallah added:

The Scientific Center of Kuwait Organizes the ‘Flower Planting’ Event in Collaboration with UN-Habitat
The Scientific Center, a subsidiary of the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences (KFAS), organized the “Flower Planting” event in collaboration with the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) and the International Women’s Committee. The event aimed to promote environmental awareness and highlight the role of women in sustainability.
Dr. Amira Al-Hassan, Head of the UN-Habitat Mission in Kuwait and the Gulf Region Office, said:
“We planted flowers to take advantage of the pleasant weather and the transition to a beautiful autumn climate. Joining us were all members of the Diplomatic Women’s Group, along with several female heads of diplomatic missions in Kuwait, including the ambassadors of Canada, Turkey, Indonesia, the Head of Mission of Kenya, the Head of the UNHCR Mission in Kuwait, and the wives of ambassadors.”
She added that the purpose of the event was to learn how to grow plants in Kuwaiti soil and apply that knowledge in our home environments. “This initiative is part of the ‘Kuwait is Planting’ campaign, now in its eighth consecutive year, and is also within the framework of our ongoing cooperation with The Scientific Center, which continues to host and support our community-based environmental activities. All these efforts contribute to combating the effects of global climate change on Kuwait by expanding green spaces,” Dr. Al-Hassan explained.
For his part, Mr. Mohammed Al-Sanousi, Deputy General Manager for Visitor Experience at The Scientific Center, one of KFAS’s centers, expressed his gratitude for the initiative organized by the UN-Habitat Mission in Kuwait and the Gulf Region Office. He noted the presence of ambassadors, ambassadors’ spouses, a number of diplomatic figures, and environmental and community advocates, as well as Dr. Amira Al-Hassan, Head of UN-Habitat.
He added that participants engaged in planting white flower seedlings at the main entrance of The Scientific Center as part of environmental awareness activities aimed at spreading a culture of environmental responsibility within the center and the wider community.
Al-Sanousi further explained that the area designated for the planting is located between The Scientific Center’s parking lots and the VIP station, with the space prepared specifically for this purpose. He also mentioned that The Scientific Center continuously introduces new initiatives, noting that a new event or activity takes place each month. He added that in mid-October, a new IMAX film titled “T-REX” will be screened at The Scientific Center.
